When Men Are Falling in Love, They Always Do This

By Tomisin AtobateleFrom my video

When men are falling in love, they always do this: they start organizing their life around you without being asked. It's not just one thing, it's a list of things, but once you understand men, the list becomes really obvious. He understands how to handle you, he contacts you with no agenda, he anticipates your needs, he remembers the small details, and he builds his routines, his plans, and even his apartment around your comfort.

Why spend more time wondering, guessing, and dissecting when you can have a very clear checklist of exactly what it looks like when a man is actually falling in love? That way the answer is either yes, my man is doing these things, or no, he's not. Here's the whole list, with what each sign really means.

He understands you, sometimes better than you understand yourself

The first sign is that he understands how to handle you. I know handle you sounds negative, like control, but what I mean is he knows what you need at different times, even in ways where you have to give him credit like, damn, you're kinda right, but I don't wanna admit you're right. You're in a mood, everything he does is ticking you off, even him breathing. Instead of getting discombobulated and asking why you're being mean to him, he says, no worries, we're going to your favorite food spot right now, because you're not upset, you're hangry. You eat, the sunshine and rainbows open up, and everything you were mad about stops mattering.

Right next to that sits anticipation. He reads your patterns and moves before you ask. If you crave Snickers every time you're on your period, and your period surprises you at his place, he comes back from the store with tampons and Snickers. Because I see and observe you, he says. Rather than waiting for you to mention it, I just grabbed them in anticipation of your needs.

He reaches out with no agenda at all

A man who's using you only contacts you when he needs something from you, whether that's your body or a hit of attention. There's always a motive attached to the call.

A man falling in love reaches out for literally no reason. He just wanted to hear your voice and chitchat about nothing in particular. He wants your presence without needing you to do anything while present. That's when you should clue in: men don't do that for everyone. If he doesn't need a reason to contact you, the only explanation left is that his feelings create a deep burning desire to have you around, whether something is going on or not.

The small details tell you where his mind lives

He remembers really small, seemingly insignificant things about what you like and why, then brings them up in places where you're just like, damn, you remember that? Maybe you've eaten the red Skittles first since you were a kid, even though you admit they all taste the same. One day he hands you a bag he's been eating from, and you realize he ate everything except the red ones. He saved every red Skittle for you. He wouldn't dare eat them in your presence.

The details you forget about yourself, he's thinking about, because that's how much you're on his mind. It's the same reason he clears out a drawer in his bathroom and closet specifically for your things, so you stop lugging your life back and forth in a travel bag. In his mind you're becoming part of his life, so he makes room for you in it, naturally, without it feeling like pulling teeth.

He weighs you into his biggest decisions

When something really matters, a man falling in love asks your opinion before he decides. He's weighing job opportunities with different career paths and locations, and he comes to you: I really value your opinion. Tell me what you think is best, what I might be missing, and factor in what you want, what you need, and what our relationship needs as well.

That's love and deep respect showing up at the same time, because no man wants to make a decision that negatively affects the woman he deeply cares about. If I truly love a woman, her happiness sits at the top of my priority list, and I can't pretend her happiness doesn't matter, because her happiness directly affects my ability to be happy as a man.

The same instinct drives the quieter adjustments. You tell him you're gluten free, and without being asked he starts stocking his kitchen with gluten free versions of everything, just so that when you do come over, you feel at home instead of uncomfortable. He doesn't have to. He happily does.

His routines, his plans, and his schedule start including you

Watch what happens to his everyday structure. He has an hour and a half commute home, and like clockwork he calls you on it, to the point where if he ever doesn't, you're genuinely concerned. He handles the logistics of every date, the reservation, the pickup time, the itinerary, until you can turn your brain off because you trust it's handled. Men don't bother to put that much planning into women they don't care about. The men who don't give a damn put forth the absolute bare minimum.

He also commits your schedule to memory instead of asking you every day when you work. You're a nurse working 3 to 11, Saturdays are for your family, so he proposes the aquarium on Sunday since you don't start until 3 on Monday. And it goes beyond introducing you to his friends and family, even though that counts too. He brings you into the personal corners of his life that most people never see, come watch my jujitsu match, come to my men's league basketball game, because doing what he loves with you present gives him a genuine boost of happiness.

He drops the front: silly, useful, and always in your corner

Men keep their inner child locked away in public because a man is supposed to be hardcore, and people might judge. So notice when the buttoned up, no nonsense version of him melts the moment you two are alone and he's cracking jokes and being goofy like a big kid. That means the guard is down and the facade is off, and for a man, being able to genuinely enjoy himself with you is a very big deal. A real authentic person has layers, and he's showing you the layer the public never gets.

He also loves fixing your problems, not because of the problems, but because they're yours. Your laptop keeps freezing, and even though he's not a tech guy he's researching, Googling, asking you to unplug it and show him the screen, because men derive a huge part of our value from being useful to the people we love.

And he's your biggest cheerleader even when you're not good yet. There's a stark difference between a man who hates you, and yes, sometimes you'll be sleeping with a man who hates you, and a man who's falling in love. Your paintings could be genuinely awful, ears as big as the head, and he'll tell you, babe, that's not bad, it's getting better day by day, there's something there. When a man is falling in love, it's really hard for him to see any wrong in what you're doing, and really hard for him to ever say the words, you suck.

Questions women ask me about this

How do men act when they are falling in love?
They organize their life around you without you asking: calling with no agenda, anticipating your needs, remembering tiny details like which Skittles you eat, planning every date's logistics, adjusting their home and groceries for your comfort, and asking your opinion on their biggest decisions.
What is the biggest sign a man is falling in love with you?
One of the clearest tells is that he contacts you with no agenda. A man who's using you only reaches out when he needs something. A man falling in love calls just to hear your voice, because his feelings create a desire to have you present whether anything is going on or not.
Do men in love make sacrifices without being asked?
Yes, and that's the tell: the adjustments come naturally, not like pulling teeth. He restocks his own kitchen with gluten free versions of everything he already buys, clears a drawer for your things, and plans around your work schedule, all before you ever have to request it.
Why does a man asking for my opinion mean he loves me?
Because it shows love and deep respect at once. A man who truly cares won't make a major decision, like choosing between job offers, without weighing how it affects you, since your happiness directly affects his ability to be happy as a man.
Is a man being silly with me a real sign of love?
Yes. Most men keep their inner child hidden in public to avoid judgment. If he's buttoned up around everyone else but goofy and playful alone with you, his guard is down, and showing you that unguarded layer is a very big deal for a man.
